Eunice Kennedy Shriver
The news this morning came that one of the greatest women of our time passed today. Mrs. Shriver was the founder of Special Olympics, one of The Bowling Foundation's strong programs we support. She was the sister of the late US President John F Kennedy, and the sister of a person with intellectual disabilities.
She was a visionary, a global champion for social change, a fighter for the rights of people with intellectual disabilities. Her cause of showing the world the abilities of children and adults with intellectual disabilities through sports has grown to over 170 countries worldwide and over 2 million athletes.
Having known her and worked for her for 20+ years, I am personally devastated by her passing.
Her legacy will live throughout time. On behalf of The Bowling Foundation, our condolences go out to the entire Kennedy and Shriver families, and to the Special Olympics family worldwide.
