Special Olympics
The Bowling Foundation is proud to support Special Olympics throughout the US with a variety of initiatives.
In collaboration with the United States Bowling Congress, (USBC) which serves as the National Governing Body for the sport of bowling, the Special Olympics National Unified Bowling Tournament is held. “Unified” teams comprised of Special Olympics bowlers and their non disabled peers travel from all over the country to compete on the same lanes that the annual USBC Men’s Open Championships are held. In 2009, Las Vegas was the site of the event which celebrated its 19th year. Unified® Sports is an innovative program of Special Olympics that promotes integration of persons with intellectual disabilities further into society by providing them the opportunity to train and compete on the same team with non disabled peers of similar age groups and abilities.

The Bowling Foundation also partners with the Professional Bowlers Association (PBA) to secure professional tour bowlers who appear at events and offer clinics.

The Bowling Foundation is proud to be a supporter of the 2010 Special Olympics USA National Games, to be held 18-23 July 2010 in the Omaha/Lincoln area, Nebraska.

Many bowling centers across the US also support Special Olympics by hosting training and competition activities, as well as fundraising events. To find a local bowling center near you go to www.gobowling.com.
